JSON Formatter

Pretty-print JSON with indentation. Invalid JSON shows a clear parse error.

How to use

  1. Step 1Paste your JSON into the text area.
  2. Step 2Click Format JSON to pretty-print with 2-space indentation.
  3. Step 3Use Copy result to copy the formatted output. Fix any parse errors shown for invalid JSON.

Features

  • Pretty-prints with 2-space indentation
  • Preserves data values — formatting does not invent fields
  • Shows parse errors for invalid JSON
  • Copy button for the formatted result
  • Runs in your browser

Format JSON in your browser

Paste JSON from an API, config file, or log, then pretty-print it so nested objects and arrays are easier to read. Toolora formats locally — your text is not uploaded for this tool.

What “format” means here

The tool runs JSON.parse and then JSON.stringify with a 2-space indent. That fixes spacing and line breaks. It does not rename keys, convert types, or “fix” business data.

Example

Compact input such as {"name":"Ada","roles":["admin"]} becomes an indented multi-line document you can copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does formatting change my JSON data?

No. The tool parses JSON and serializes it again with indentation. Object key order follows the parser; values are not altered.

What happens if my JSON is invalid?

You see an error starting with “Invalid:” and the parser message. Nothing is treated as a successful format result.

Where can I minify or only validate?

Use JSON Minifier to remove whitespace, or JSON Validator to check validity without focusing on pretty layout.

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Parsing and formatting run in your browser.
